Piccolino Caffé Grande, Manchester: A Taste of Italy Awaits You

Came in around 7pm on a Tuesday and it was packed with a wait of upwards of 40 minutes. However, the bar was open and serving both food and drinks, so my guest and I opted for that, which couldn’t have been a better decision. The bartenders were so friendly and charismatic. It was nice to get a little bartending “show” and hear them joke with each other in Italian. They were enjoying themselves, which sets the tone for the restaurant. The food was amazing — had a few salads, lasagne, and risotto, along with some wine and a mocktail. All were delicious and generous in portion. Service was friendly and quick, impressive considering they were also tending to the bar. This may sound strange, but it was nice to be at the bar and still feel like part of the restaurant. This was a highlight of my time in Manchester.

Just had the Valentine’s Day menu and it was a good value for money, amazing food, drink was incredible and for me the highlight was the desert. Staff was very kind and prompt served us. Food came very fast and me and my partner had a great night! It was my first time here and I will definitely come back. 5 stars for the lovely staff who served us, Veronica, Giovanna and Davide who was very polite, fast and kind. This restaurant is now on my TOP 3 best Italians in town. 10/10

Had a wonderful evening here. Great atmosphere, classy environment, excellent service, wonderful food & drink. We started with some nicely made negronis at the bar before moving to our table, where we enjoyed a spritz and a Bellini to go with our antipasti. Appreciated our brilliant waiter, Jose, who gave plenty of advice on what to order. We decided to split one of the pasta dishes to follow our antipasti - a truffle and pecorino dish which was fantastic. For our mains we went for the duck and orange, and the sea bream - both very good! Desserts were lovely too, shared the excellent tiramisu and a choux bun with chocolate ice-cream. So good! Many many wines to choose from, ranging from affordable to extravagant (we went with 'affordable' and were not dissatisfied at all with our choice). Thanks to the team and to Jose in particular for making our visit memorable and enjoyable

Piccolino offers great selection of Italian food and Italian wine. It is a great spot to get your Italian fix in Manchester. No parking around, as the restaurant is located around the downtown area. There are limited parking options around too. So Uber, Taxi or walk. Please make reservations ahead of time as the spot seems to be pretty popular, you will experience 30 mins wait if you are walk in like me, depending on the time of the day of course. The food tastes great, tons of flavor, slightly on the light side on seasoning to bring out the nature taste of the food. Love the sea bass, crispy skin, tender fresh and moist. As I mentioned, it is a pretty busy place, so it might get a bit rowdy. Just FYi

Updated July 2024. Delicious takeaway pizza, superb breakfast outside the next morning. Love the place. Update October 2023. Love this place, superb food and excellent service. The outdoor area is hard to beat. The staff made our birthday celebrations very special. Thank you. Always great food in comfortable contemporary surroundings with great friendly service. Not been as much this year as I'd have liked, will change that in 2020. Sorry picture from my gallery. Update June 2022. We have just enjoyed a holiday in Sardinia, however-culinary speaking- nothing compared to Piccolino's. The food is always delicious, tasty and fabulous. The service is always excellent.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Drinks and food were of a high standard.

The atmosphere was nice,food was excellent and the staff are just fantastic. Jennifer was very helpful and hospitable. We will definitely come again.

Came for a date with my girlfriend and we both thought it was absolutely perfect. The staff were absolutely lovely and the food was unreal! By far the nicest place we’ve been and look forward to coming again
